Death Tour

Novel by David J Michael (USA) 1978.

Five students who work on weird assignments for their college paper run out of ideas for their next story, but, with seemingly excellent timing, one student's father who works in the sewers comes home with an alligator bite. No prizes for guessing the next assignment. All five go down the sewers to see what they can find, and end up finding not only alligators, but a madwoman and a twist in the tale.

Crocs in the sewers again (or to be exact, alligators this time), and thus this has a lot in common with a lot of other novels, but it does comes out with both feet firmly planted - in the slime. There's not much of a plot to comment on, but what there is is touched by an unusually successful blend of horror and comedy, without ever becoming overtly silly. Worth checking out as a decent pulp effort.
