Top 100 Albums of All Time

This list was taken from New Musical Express of 2nd October, 1993, and voted for by NME journalists. The 100th place was decided by readers.

OK, ther'es a lot more to be upset about here. This is a very wide ranging list so there are always going to be arguments about missed albums, but there are a few more obvious glitches.

For instance, there are three albums by The Clash and four by Neil Young, yet no Dark Side of the Moon, no Bat Out of Hell and no Raw Power. How can Graceland seriously not be listed? There's no Bruce Springsteen, no Leonard Cohen, no Miles Davis. There's no country, blues, metal, folk whatsoever!

If there's a bias, it's towards British indie bands, though I'm not sure the admirable inclusion of Joy Division overrules listing three Smiths albums. It is, however, very refreshing to see Tom Waits, Public Enemy, The Stooges, Gram Parsons, Captain Beefheart and Otis Redding on the same list.
