The Descent

by Bramblerose

Spiraling downward
alone in the dark
cold, shivering
no one to warm me.

Plunging faster
screaming out for help
in vain I beg,
no one to hear my plea.

Crashing against the sides
on my way down
battered, bruised and broken,
no one to slow my descent.

So alone, so empty
reaching out for anyone, anything
to ease the ache inside me...
no one to hold me.

Isolation, fear
not sure what I am frightened of,
so much pain, agony,
no one to comfort me.

Again and again,
I cry out in the darkness,
Pride no longer an issue,
no one answers me.

Unimaginable depths
My voice, just an echo,
I spiral down into the abyss,
No one notices my absence...

So this is hell...
