Love Poems

Send Me Up or Send Me Down

The sun could die,
We'd wonder why
For a split second, then we'd freeze;
The moon could fall
To crush us all
And lie splintered in the trees;
But after death
With pseudo-breath
I'd plead in limbo on my knees:
Send me up
Or send me down,
But don't take my love from me.

Build ever higher
The lake of fire;
I'd swim deeper and deeper each day;
With steely knives
I'd take the lives
Of any demon who stood in my way;
I'd stand before
The whole demon corps,
Look the devil in the eye and say:
Send me up
Or keep me down,
But don't take my love from me.

I'd see joyous eyes
In Paradise
But share nothing of their bliss;
Angels on high
Could offer the sky,
Every time I'd give it a miss;
Till I'd kneel alone
Before the throne
Of the Almighty and ask him this:
Keep me up
Or send me down,
But don't take my love from me.

For I swear
That I don't care
If I'm up
Or if I'm down
As long as my love is with me.
