John Astell's Direct Descendants

Introduction

The furthest I can go backwards in my direct Astell line is John Astell (c1839-1916), for reasons that I wrote about on this hidden page. DNA testing suggests that the Pracy connection is likely but what form that took is still unknown.

Until I can go further back than John Astell, I've done some work in coming forward from John Astell and that's been rewarding, especially as it's connected me with a number of genealogist cousins I never knew I had. The more time passes, the more I connect with.

So here, on another hidden page I intend only to share with only the people who are on it, are all the direct descendants of John Astell who I've been able to identify thus far. Needless to say, if you have additions or corrections, please let me know.

I should explain the numbering. Firstly, there's a counter, just so I can see how many people are included, but then there's a more unwieldy number that reflects the order of birth. At the top of the tree, John Astell is simply 1. His children are 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc. in order of birth. Each of their children follow suit. And so on, until I show up at 1.9.2.1.1, the first born child of the first born child of the second born child of the ninth born child of John Astell. The fact that there are five numbers in that number mean that I'm fifth generation. Many people here are sixth and a handful are seventh, as far as this tree goes thus far.
