Historic Classics

On the face of it, this doesn't seem like the best value for a Treeline Films box set, as seven of the fifty selections aren't really films. They're television productions, six for Studio One and one for ABC Album, but they do allow us to see such odd casting choices as Boris Karloff as King Arthur.

However there are gems in here for sure. There's Ernst Lubitsch's version of Lady Windermere's Fan, the Sabu version of The Jungle Book and the Douglas Fairbanks version of The Three Musketeers. There's a movie directed by Lew Ayres, John Barrymore as Svengali and even Donald Pleasance as Henry VIII. There are also movies from by classic directors such as Michael Curtiz, D W Griffith and Rouben Mamoulian.
