VHS Cover Scans
Introduction
I bought a lot of VHS tapes during my youth in England. Plenty were new but a whole slew of them were ex-rental copies in larger boxes that I bought from garages, video stores and market stalls.
Only later did I realise that the cover art on these British videotapes was often different from the American equivalents. I vaguely assumed that covers were only different in countries that had to translate the titles into their own languages.
So, I've been busy with the scanner. Here are some British VHS tape sleeves, mostly ex-rental copies in large clamshell cases, that you may not have seen before.
There are gorgeous covers for terrible movies that would have made you rent and regret. There are hidden gems that I now want to rewatch. There are alternative covers for alternative titles. There are even covers I'd never seen before because I hadn't realised that a few were reversible until I pulled them out to scan. And yes, some of these are signed. I like asking celebrities to sign things that they've never signed before.
