Teddy, favourite bed-companion
links fifties with nineties
sons with grandsons.
Golly once shared nursery sprawl
in close intimacy.
Between fifties and nineties
political correctness intervened
severing the union.
Golly no longer persona grata
stinks of racism.
Now Pooh goes marching on
towards second millennium,
Sambo and much of Noddy banished
to toyland limbo.
