What can one say of pain in the mind?
The cause is elusive and so hard to find;
We waltz right past it day in and day out,
Waiting and wondering how to vanquish self doubt.
We all start out innocent, fresh and naive
In a world full of wonder and hard to believe;
Then comes injustice, it gnaws at our soul,
Our hearts are devastated, and left with a hole.
When we grow up in madness, sanity a blur,
We're not all bad, but what's bad? We're not sure
Promises broken and love gone wrong,
We feel all alone and we just don't belong.
When it's all said and done the bottom we reach,
We search for help and someone who'll teach.
We start to find answers one day at a time,
Introduced to steps we're told we should climb.
Our lives can be salvaged, we can start anew
Learning simple principles, practices we must do.
God will help, we have but to ask,
Our goals become clear in our new lifelong task.
To the rooms we gather to listen and share,
We learn how to love and learn how to care.
We accept in each other the good and the bad
And encourage one and other not to be so sad.
